Michigan Small Communities Association

The Michigan Small Communities Association (MSCA) is dedicated to advancing the quality of life in Michigan's small communities. Through the exchange of ideas and information, MSCA serves as an advocate for housing and community development needs. Its mission includes promoting sound public policy decisions at the state and local level on issues that impact community development and housing programs

MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

Membership consists of professionals working in community development, housing, and rehabilitation programs that are funded by the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) with Community Development Block Grants and/or Home funds. Membership in MCDDA is a prerequisite for membership in MSCA.

If you are a MSHDA grantee, consider joining MSCA even if your organization is not able to be an active member in the Association activities. It is very helpful to our mission to have your support. MSCA is a growing organization with a mission to promote and advocate for small towns in Michigan. One goal is to have an open dialog with MSHDA on a regular basis with the end result being better services to our clients, improved program management, less bureaucracy, smoother communications and effective working relationships. MSCA meets regularly with MSHDA policy makers and serves as a voice in Lansing for the interest and concerns of rural areas and small towns in both the upper peninsula and lower peninsula of Michigan. Please support an organization that supports you.

In addition to the quarterly meetings with MSHDA, the Association members are allowed to participate in the MCDDA Technical Assistance Conferences. These are a excellent opportunities for the membership to meet and exchange information with other communities across Michigan on a wide variety of topics related to community, economic and housing development.
